This was a three day trip that we did to North Wales. Click on the links for trail photos.
- Saturday:The Marin trail at Betws y coed. It rained most of the time.
- Sunday: Penmachno. It rained about half of the time.
- Monday: Llandegla. It didn’t rain.

We stayed at the Tyddyn Bychan bunk barn. This is ideally situated somewhere in the middle between the three trails. It’s a biker friendly location and we liked the barbeque hut and the hearty breakfasts. The owners are keen to make things even more biker friendly and are going to be adding features like a bike wash soon. 10% discount for MBSwindon club members!
Of the three trails Penmachno was the out and out winner with everyone liking the mountainous nature of the route, the rocks, woodwork and final descent. The Marin trail had some good sections but the long fire road climbs detracted from that. Llandegla is a bit of a love-hate trail. The new skills area and pump track were great, but a fair amount of the main loop is motorway riding. Personally I really like the fast and smooth downhill sections and the elevated section.
We liked the One Planet Cafe at Llandegla: large portions, super fast service and tasty.
