Eating report: fund raising curry night 2011

Meeting curry and beer.

This was our second fund raising curry night (See the photos from last year).

The Bombay Lounge restaurant (at Peatmoor) and Swindon Link magazine offer community groups, charities and good causes the chance to raise money whilst enjoying a great curry. The owner Hanif donates all profits from the night to the club. We also held a raffle. We sold a lot of tickets on the night, aided by the prizes that were generously donated by supporting companies, generally those who offer club members a discount. There were 43 prizes and with around 50 people present it was almost one prize per person.

The event took the format of an “all you could eat buffet” for £12.50 per person.

Fund raising curry night

Meeting curry and beer.

After a great night last year we are again organising the MB Swindon Curry night to be held on Mon 3rd October.

The Bombay Lounge restaurant (at Peatmoor) and Swindon Link magazine offer community groups, charities and good causes the chance to raise money whilst enjoying a great curry. Hanif, the Bombay Lounge Owner, donates all profits from the night to the cause.

There will be an All You Can Eat buffet for £12.50 per person.

We will be holding a raffle so any prize donations would be gratefully recieved – please message Jodie with any offers. Last years prizes were kindly donated by Dirt Divas, The Big Adventure Store, Hargroves, Red Planet, Spoke Shirts and Swindon Borough Council. Last year’s winners.

Tickets are available for cash at any of our events.

Here’s our donations list so far:

Tickets are available for cash at any of our events.

Bombay Lounge curry house.

All funds raised from the night will go towards the Croft Trail and MB Swindon in order to carry on running as the succesful club we have developed in to.

WAGS, HABS and friends all made welcome – It really is a nice night for everyone to catch up when the weather isn’t totally in favour of getting out on your bike !!!!!

Last year we pretty much had the whole of the curry house to ourselves, I will need to know numbers however to ensure that we have enough to have the whole place again and we don’t get overcrowded and aren’t able to fit everyone in!

Please indicate your intention of attending by emailing Jodie or on the facebook event page.

Many Thanks – Jodie Ladies Officer x x

Eating report: Curry night Mon 11th Oct 2010

This was a fund raising social night. The Bombay Lounge restaurant at (Steve) Peatmoor and Swindon Link magazine offer community groups, charities and good causes the chance to raise money whilst enjoying a great curry.

Bombay Lounge curry house.

Lounge owner Hanif Robani committed all of his profits on the night from the restaurant, take-aways and home deliveries to MBSwindon Mountain Bike Club.

The food took the form of an all you could eat buffet. There was plenty of beer drinking going on too.

Local businesses had very generously donated prizes for our raffle. Suspense was high – we had some high value items available. We ran it as a double draw: first a name was drawn out of a hat and then the winner picked a ticket to determine their prize. Everyone wanted to know who was going to win the Bressner Photon Torpedo head torch.

Things got off to a good start when the guys from Hargroves Cycles drew the special bonus prize (a pair of DIY fingerless gloves that were found in the trail car park). We’re going to keep a keen eye on the next deal of the week to make sure the gloves don’t come back. We worked through the prizes until the headtorch was still not claimed with only a few prizes to go. Simon Morgan thought he had it in the bag and ended up with a free MBSwindon subscription (this way we can guarantee at least one member next year). His words were “I paid £15 for a lousy £8 club subscription. How do I get my money back?”. As luck would have it Simon’s name was drawn again and this time he scooped the torch.
