Witches and Warheads

Tim Norris will be taking us to a new location for MB Swindon and a ride to push you if you have been finding Novice rides a little too easy. This relatively straightforward ride around an ancient wooded area of the North Wessex Downs with some great views, features some well surfaced bridleways and cycle tracks.  There are some short climbs, one of which is quite steep.
Expect some river views, woodland cycling, to find some WWII bunkers and be treated to Tim’s terrible knowledge of a local witch hunt story.

  1. I’m just about to go on holiday (you will miss me I’m sure) so I thought I’d better send this out now as I won’t be able to remind folks a few days before the ride..

This below will be going ahead whatever the weather!

As the description says it is a Novice ride – this means its not tricky or technical but you will be required to pedal your bike and there will be 500-600m of climbing.

This isn’t an insignificant amount of climbing but don’t be put off. We will wait for you to catch up and you will be surprised what you can achieve with some encouragement, picking the right gears and just getting stuck in.

The rewards will be some great cycling and some nice views.

We will meet at the Bell Inn (BA12 0QP) for a 10am start.

The pub are happy for us to use the car park if we use the pub, but have asked could we try and spread the cars around the village as they don’t have a huge amount of space and can be very popular for lunch.

There is no planned stop for food so please bring snacks, etc and we will play this part by ear. Ideally we will finish at the pub for a pint but please don’t expect to be back necessarily in time for lunch.

So see you then and it would be useful if you could click the attending button on the event page so we have an idea of numbers.

  2. Sounds great, even with the 600m climb. Don’t do facebook so posting my interest here. Hope to make it as it will be my first event with MB Swindon since joining in June.

  3. Hi. I’m a novice who is quite a keen cyclist. I joined you back at Christmas for one of your new year rides. Would I be able to join you on Sunday?
    Kind Regards
    Kerry
