Summer Solstice Ride

Last year we did an evening ride on the summer solstice – about 25 miles long with a (supposed) 7pm start time.

Someone (mention no names) was quite late arriving, then we got puncture after puncture, then it got dark (slower progress) and so we ended up being very late back to the cars much to the bemusement & amusement of some “travellers” who had since arrived in the car park to spend the night.

BUT… the camaraderie was superb, the laughs a-plenty, the route was fun and the late sunset spectacular and somehow that meant getting home at 1am on a school night didn’t seem to matter.  In fact several people rated it as one of their favourite rides of last year!

So we’re doing it again this year, hopefully with a more prompt departure and earlier finish, but no guarantees.

Proper off-road lights will be required. The club has a few sets for loan, please let Phil know at least 48 hours in advance if required.

Google map of start location.

    Hi Phil,
Are you still doing your MTB ride tonight. What time does it start? Croft Centre location?
I am currently not a member but interested in joining.
I am trying to change my diary for this afternoon. But if I wished could I join you for tonight’s ride?
Or is it advanced MTB’s, etc…….
Many thanks for your help in this matter.
    Kind regards

  2. Hi Tracey, it’s all going ahead as planned. It starts at the layby at the bottom of the Barbury Castle road climb. I’ll add the google map link to the event.

You are very welcome to join us.
