Kate D leads this 18-mile ride, which starts at Foxhill Car Park at Wanborough (if you’re not familiar with it, it’s a little way up the hill on the right, past the Burj restaurant at Wanborough).
From Foxhill we’ll head up the Ridgeway and then pick up the bridleway which runs along Hinton Down, and then on to the byway to Aldbourne. We’ll stop for a cuppa and cake in Aldbourne, then take the road climb out of Aldbourne back up to the the Ridgeway, and then down towards Ogbourne St George and onto the Marlborough-Chiseldon Railway Path for a mile or so. We’ll then cross the road and ride up the mast climb back up to the Ridgeway towards Liddington Castle and back to Foxhill.
This will be a sensibly paced ride, and no-one will be left behind. The terrain will mostly be tracks, bridleway and by-way, with two road climbs. While none of the ride will contain anything technical, it is likely to be muddy and possibly slippery in places, and the mast climb is a bit of a challenge for the old legs and lungs – but it’s not a race; just take it at your own pace. New members would be welcome.
Meet at Foxhill Car Park ready for a 10am sharp departure. There will be a cafe stop in Aldbourne. Bring anything you need such as spare tubes, warm coat, a snack etc.
As the car park is in a fairly remote location, make sure you don’t leave any valuables in your car.
