Thames Source Ride

Tom Scott will be leading this unusual ride – unusual due to the flat nature of the route, which is unusual for a mountain bike route!
We will venture out to the Cotswold Water Park and beyond, to seek the well at the source of the river Thames, near Coates, west of Cirencester. We will be using as much of the Thames path as we are allowed on bikes, and getting as close as possible by road on the bits we are not allowed.
Please bring food, drink, spares and tools, as usual. Please be aware that the paths are prone to flooding so there may be a bit of getting wet involved, depending on whether the weather plays a part.

  1. Hi I am a 54 female Mountain biker with a fair amount of experience, Brecons, The Gap, Forest of Dean, Ridgeway etc I am looking to join a new group that ride at the weekends, I live near Bath but happy to drive. If you think I would fit in with the group for this ride I would be pleased to join in.

  2. HI Steffan
Thank you for reply I would probably be interested in both rides.
Please can you confirm the start time and starting place for ride on Sept 16th I would very much like to come along, it seems a good ride to join for the first ride. If the ride is likely to be cancelled for any reason would someone contact me 07894201963, also if for any reason I can’t come is there a number I can use to notify someone? Look forward to your reply.

  3. Hi Jane
The start is at Mouldon Hill Country Park SN25 1WH. Be there ready for a 10.00am start. I can only think of one ride that’s been cancelled in the last 5 years, so assume that it is on unless there is a hurricane! You don’t need to confirm your attendance, just be sure you’re there in time!

  4. Hi Steffan
Thanks yes I will be there next Saturday in good time. I will SAT NAV to Moulden COuntry Park as I don’t know it, when I get there do you meet in a car park? Obviously a group with bikes is a give away but will it be obvious how to find everyonewhen I get there ? Cheers Jane

  5. It should be pretty obvious when you get there. I’m unlikely to be there, but keep an eye out for a noisy Yorkshireman called Tom who’s leading the ride. I’ll let him know to expect you. I think there’s a barrier at the Park entrance, so you’re better off carrying your bike inside the car, if possible.

  6. Hi Jane, yes this ride will go ahead regardless of the weather! Come off at Junction 16 and follow the Sat Nav. Moulden Hill is a left turn, opposite a large pub called the Tawny Owl. See you there. Tom
