Every winter, the Club runs a weekly ‘Urban’ ride to help riders maintain a bit of fitness over the winter.
Since the spring of 2015, we have also held club rides most Wednesdays during British Summer Time. These rides are usually 2 to 2.5 hours in duration, about 15-20 miles long and generally start at 7pm.
Most of these rides go from the following starting points:
Coate Water – plenty of parking although it is pay and display; easy acess to the Ridgeway and Marlborough Downs south of Swindon.
Barbury Castle – free parking. Although officially the gate closes at 9pm, there is room to park outside the gate; right in the heart of the main MTB area.
Foxhill – free parking with no time restrictions, a good spot for exploring the Ridgeway and associated trails east of Swindon.
Chiseldon (Patriots Arms) – We have permission to use the car park with no obligation to buy a drink, though we often have a pint there to finish off.
With the clocks having just changed, the first ‘Summer’ ride of 2018 will be on 28th March. Meet at the Patriots Arms ready for a 7.00pm start.
You will need lights suitable for riding off road although you could get away with commuter lights in June and July. If you fancy joining in keep an eye on the events calendar.
