Graham Burgess will be hosting a Chiltern Hills ride from Watlington with a bit of a twist – he won’t actually be leading it…!
Bring on our Guest Ride Leader, Jane Hawkes’ sister Sue Stansfield who is local to the area and has ridden with the club on a number of occasions.
Starting in the pretty little market town of Watlington (Oxfordshire) which nestles just to the north of the Chiltern Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the ride will take us off into the hills for what we are told will be climbs (around 5 of them throughout the ride amounting to approx 900 metres of uppy loveliness) and superb descents through woods, country parks and farmland along with stunning far reaching views.
The ride will be around 30 miles so expect to be out 4-5 hours (maybe a little longer depending on stops/faffing etc.).
There will be a pub stop en-route which we are told also sells tea and CAKE – who knew such places exist!
Not expected to be overly technical so open to anyone who is capable of 30ish miles and a reasonable bit of climbing. Group ride and no-one will be left behind.
Bring the usual: a working bike, spares/tube, snacks/drink, clothing appropriate to weather and some pocket money for en-route stop and probably a post ride beverage too.
Start point: Hill Road Car Park, Watlington OX49 5AD (apparently free too!).
Arrive to be ready for a 10:00am sharp departure.
Please indicate on event page on Facebook if you are going.
